“The Social Network”, directed by David Fincher in 2010, is a movie based around Mark Zuckerberg’s life during the creation of
Facebook. This is a very captivating story as it explores the highs and lows of relationships and problems throughout the development of the multi-billion dollar website. The movie goes through how events led up to the development, the suing of the site all the way up to the current status. As the movie is set on everybody’s favourite website, many teens will be
very interested in the making of the site. Although this is a very informative movie it would not be for the action packed, thriller type movie lover, the movie would be suited and liked by documentary lovers or people that would like to know more about the creation of Facebook. This is an interesting story staring Jessie Eisenberg as ‘Mark Zuckerberg’ and Andrew Garfield as ‘Eduardo Saverin’.
The movie revolves around the loss and gain of friendship and the choices of who to associate one-self with. It is incredibly accurate and easy to relate to the bad choices and crossroads which Zuckerberg is presented with in terms of who he will have as a friend for his life.
In 2003, a computer programming genius, Mark Zuckerberg, sits down at his computer and starts working on a new idea. After hard work, blogging and programming his dorm room project becomes a global hit and a revolution in global connection. After 6 years and 500 million friends, Mark Zuckerberg has made Himself the youngest billionaire in history but on the way his success has
led him to both legal and personal complications.
The main stars included
· Jessie Eisenberg (Mark
Zuckerberg)
· Andrew Garfield
(Eduardo Saverin)
·Justin Timberlake (Sean
Parker)
· Armie Hammer (The
Winklevoss Twins)
·Dakota Johnson (Erica
Albright)
All the actors in this movie portray their characters well as they manage to get their characters personalities and feeling across to the viewers. Jessie Eisenberg, in particular, deserves a commendable mention as he plays the part effectively, demonstrating Mark’s mind set and feelings, enabling the viewer to fully understand the character. Andrew Garfield who plays Eduardo Saverin also doesn't disapoint and plays his part brilliantly which complements Mark and the movie, he does this by making his role
believable to the audience by letting his emotions go wild in this high tension movie, making them feel that he is closely connected with Mark making the movie look that much better. Armie Hammer and Justin Timberlake play the parts of the Winklevoss twins and Sean Parker well, making them feel like plausible and connectable characters, causing the movie to feel all-round well done.
If the audience is looking for an action packed, exciting movie, the social network is not for you. This movie is more of a documentary in my opinion. It is an accurate portrayal of the interesting life that Zuckerberg lived. If you are looking for an informative documentary about the creation and ideas of Facebook then I definitely recommend “The Social Network”. As far as the directing and acting the movie is very good but with the small ability to draw attention to itself, I would rate this movie 3 and a half
stars.
